Freighter Watch Custom Silipint Design 2017-2018

As the final days of Summer are winding down, I wanted to share this year’s custom Silipint glasses. Each year I create a custom design for the Harsens Island Social Club. Check out 2015’s design here and 2016’s design here.

The 2017-2018 design is about our obsession with the Great Lakes freighters. Several years ago the social club started creating banners for our favorite freighters with the hope of getting a salute as they pass by in front of the house. The routine usually consists of someone seeing a freighter in the distance, followed by everyone asking “Which one is it? Get the banner!”

Each year the production becomes more elaborate with the introduction of a flag dance and large groups of children waving. Dedicating a Silipint to this tradition seemed like the perfect way to honor one of our favorite activities.

Cheers to all the freighters of the Great Lakes! Even the ones who won’t give us a salute.

As you can see, it was a great Summer, and the Harsens Island Social Club partied hard with our Silipints and the Great Lakes Freighters. Until next Summer…
