My husband and I got jealous watching everyone outside walking their dogs this weekend, so we decided our cat, Dexter, needed to venture beyond our back yard. What could possibly go wrong?
It all started innocently enough as we were hanging out in our back yard, enjoying the beautiful weather with Dexter. I was playing with my camera, Dexter was sniffing the grass, and my husband and I kept watching neighbor after neighbor walking their happy dogs. We suddenly had the brilliant idea of loading him up in a backpack since he refuses to walk on a leash.
Since Dexter and my husband have such a close bond, it made sense that he would be the one to carry the “cat pack.” We loaded him up, made some adjustments, I grabbed my camera, and off we went.
We kept waiting for Dexter to freak out, but he never did. Just a little squirming here and there. We were so excited, that halfway down the street we decided to take him up to Stringer’s Ridge and enjoy the view of downtown.
About halfway into our journey, Dexter curled up in the bottom of the backpack, and we thought it was so cute that he was taking a nap…little did we know what were in for.
Dexter gets terrible motion sickness anytime we have to take him somewhere in the car. We should’ve known that riding in a backpack isn’t much different than riding in a car…at least for a cat.
His head popped up followed by a horrific smell….and then…his chest started heaving and the cat vomit started. It was everywhere! We quickly turned around, trying to keep him calm, and raced back to the house. Out came the paper towels, the hose, and finally Dexter ended up in the bathtub.
Dexter quickly forgot his traumatic adventure and ended the evening with a nap on his favorite fuzzy blanket. So, how was your weekend?
These pictures are priceless…it tell the whole story! Still laughing…poor Dexter and his parents!
