Places to Bike on Nantucket – Pt 2

This June I joined some of the Schwinn Ambassadors at a Summer house on Nantucket, where we explored places to bike on Nantucket.

Places to Bike on Nantucket Pt 2

Welcome to Biking on Nantucket Part 2! You can also check out some of my previous adventures with the Schwinn Ambassadors in Part 1.

The weather on Nantucket became increasingly unpredictable, so we had to adapt our riding schedule slightly. At one moment the weather was bright and sunny and the next windy and rainy. However, there was no shortage of beautiful locations to ride to and explore.

Not all of Nantucket is bike accessible, but with parking being scarce, it made sense to bike to as many places as possible and then travel further by foot.

Sconset Bluff Walk

The Sconset Bluff Walk is a scenic trail through the back yards of some of the cottages that line the Nantucket coastline. This is a foot path only, but with parking being scarce in the area, we parked our bikes at the Sconset Market.

CBC House

The ambassadors met with some members of the media to talk about our personal experiences with biking and the Schwinn brand. Everyone’s story was unique, and illustrated that biking is for everyone, not just road riders in spandex. After sharing our stories it was time for the media to test out the bikes and helmets and off they went into the fog, while the ambassadors decided to do some in town exploration.

Handlebar Cafe

With the day starting off extremely foggy, we decided to venture into town to check out some of the local sites. We came upon The Handlebar Cafe, a bike themed coffee shop, where we grabbed a latte. There’s so many little nooks around Nantucket, and behind the Handlebar cafe was a beautiful little garden patio.

Downtown Nantucket

Downtown Nantucket was very unique with the historic cobblestone streets, endless window boxes overflowing with flowers, and quaint shops. Traffic was heavy and parking scarce, so biking to the downtown area and then enjoying the sites further by foot was a good idea.

Dining on Nantucket

The food on Nantucket was exceptional. We enjoyed a variety of food and almost anything you could want, they have it. Be prepared to have a dining backup plan to your dining backup plan since reservations were difficult to make, and some places had long wait times. We had to stay flexible with our dinner plans, but I can’t say I had a bad meal while I was there.

Nantucket Culinary

While all of the food we enjoyed on Nantucket was amazing, my absolute favorite meal we had was at Nantucket Culinary. The ambassadors took a cooking class in this stunning kitchen where the wine and cooking expertise flowed. Although our instructor made everything look effortless, I managed to pick up some much needed new cooking skills to take home.

Farewell Nantucket!

Since the ambassadors were from all over the country, I learned how everyone’s experience with biking was unique. From riding for exercise to enjoying a leisurely excursion, each ambassador had their own personal journeys that we shared with each other. It was an absolute honor to be invited to the Schwinn Summer house this year and to hear how each ambassador used biking in their daily lives.
